Let’s Get Started With SEO
Hey, Amy here!
I’m super excited to be jumping in today to chat all things SEO, because when you’ve poured love and care into your website, it deserves to be seen! And that’s exactly what SEO can help you do.
So… what is SEO?
SEO (aka Search Engine Optimisation) is what gets your website showing up on Google when someone searches for something relevant to your business.
Think about your own habits for a second:
🔍 "What should I do about this headache?"
🔍 "How can I grow my business?"
🔍 "The perfect wedding shoes"
We’re always turning to Google for answers and SEO is what connects the person searching to the page that solves their problem. That’s where you come in.
Our goal is to make sure your website is one of those pages by targeting the right keywords and queries.
The 4 Layers of SEO (Yes, there’s more than one!)
A lot of people think SEO is just about keywords, but there are four key areas that help your website rank.
1. On-page SEO
This is all the written content your visitors (and Google!) read, including blog posts, product descriptions, and keywords. Basically, this blog post is on-page SEO in action!
2. Off-page SEO
This is all about gaining backlinks from other websites, like collaborations or being featured on blogs like this. Google sees these links as votes of confidence for your content.
3. Local SEO
If you run a location-based business, local SEO helps you show up in map packs and local searches. Tools like Google My Business are essential here.
4. Technical SEO
This is the behind-the-scenes stuff, like how fast your site loads, how mobile-friendly it is, and how easy it is to navigate. It’s all about making sure Google and your visitors have a smooth experience.

Quick SEO Wins You Can Do Today
The biggest misconception with SEO is its a to-do list that takes forever, something your never gonna get through and something you have to spend endless hours on but the fact is SEO doesn’t have to be overwhelming. In fact, there are some really quick wins you can start with to help Google understand your site better and here are a few of them…
Check your H1 tags – These are your page’s main headings and help Google know what your content is about and each page should have one and ONLY one. Learn why they matter here.
Get local backlinks – Team up with other small businesses and see if you can feature on their blogs or collaborate on projects.
Optimise your SEO titles and meta descriptions – Often auto filled by your website but an opportunity to make them more relevant to your keywords and also your audience which means then more clicks. These are the first things people see when they search, so make them clear and clickable.
